One look at this old town of Kasauli and you think you are still in the 19th century. Cobbled roads, houses with lovely frontage, laden chestnut trees and nice little gardens at every short distance. There is little to do and this may be heaven for some lovers of solitude. The best thing you can do in Kasauli is go for long walks and soak in the sun. Mixed forests of chir-pine, Himalayan oak and huge horse chestnuts surround Kasauli.

How to reach Kasauli
On the Kalka-Shimla Highway, take a left turn at Dharampur to follow the steep road to Kasauli on a 30 km state road. The road is narrow but with not too much traffic.
What to do Kasauli
I will love to write 'NOTHING' here, cos it is a boon for the people who come here to just relax and do nothing, but for the sake of others, here goes.
The best thing U can do in Kasauli is go for long and leisurely walks
- Take a long 4 km walk from Bus Stand to the Monkey Point, the highest point of Kasauli which also has a temple dedicated to the Hindu deity. It gives a lovely view of the Satluj river and valley and the Chandigarh town. The view is spectacular especially on a clear starry night.
- Walk to the Christ Church on the Upper Mall Road, Kasauli
- A small market is there at Mall Road, Kasauli selling mainly daily needs stuff. One can get some fast food stuff at Awan Complex.
Where to stay at Kasauli
Kasauli is ruled by the Army, so to say which doesn't allow new constructions, and that is what has saved Kasauli from becoming another of those concrete jungles. Very few hotels are available in Kasauli and most of them are old heritage stuff with renovations. For this reason it is better to pre book your hotel room and go, even in off season and specially if your are going on a weekend. Kasauli Resorts is new deluxe resort which has come up recently and is situated about 3 km from Kasauli. One can also hire a cottage near Kasauli specially if one is planning to stay for a longer duration.

Hotel Alasia Kasauli
This is a heritage hotel situated in main Kasauli and has been recently renovated. The place has a old world charm about it and is a favourite joint of Ex Sanwarians (the Sanawar School pass outs) like Sunjay Dutt etc. It is a small place but conveniently located being just 2 min walk from the Mall and the market. The rooms are good sized with a choice of luxury Suite and Deluxe rooms. The Deluxe rooms have a small lawn in front where one can sit out for the sun or use it as a playground for the children. The Luxury Suites are a combination of sitting rooms and a bedroom.
