Kanha National Park, part of Project Tiger, is located in Madhya Pradesh, India. In the 1930s, the Kanha area was divided into two sanctuaries, Hallon and
Banjar, of 250 and 300 sq km each. Kanha National Park was created on 1 June 1955.
It is very popular for conducted Wildlife tours.

Kanha
National Park is the region that inspired Rudyard Kipling to write his
unforgettable classic, Jungle Book. Kanha is one of the finest and best administered
national parks in Asia known for it's Wild Life Tours for Tiger and other
Jungle Safaris.
How to Reach
Kanha National Park:
Air: Nearest Airport -Jabalpur (200Km), Raipur (216 Km) and Nagpur (280
Km).
Train:Nearest Railhead: Jabalpur (175 Km).
Road: The Park Can be reached from Jabalpur, Nagpur and Raipur.
Originally conceived to protect the swamp deers also called
Barasinghas Kanha National Park was then made a protection area for
tigers, chitals, blackbucks, langurs and leopards. The
main wildlife attractions in the park are tiger, bison, gaur, sambhar,
chital, Barasingha, barking deer, black deer, black buck, chousingha,
nilgai, mouse deer, sloth bear, jackal fox, porcupine, hyena, jungle cat,
python, pea fowl, hare, monkey, mongoose, tiger, and leopard.
The birds species in the park include storks, teals,
pintails, pond herons, egrets, peacock, pea fowl, jungle fowl, spur fowl,
partridges, quails, ring doves, spotted parakeets, green pigeons, rock
pigeons, cuckoos, papihas, rollers, bee-eater, hoopoes, drongos, warblers,
kingfishers, woodpeckers, finches, orioles, owls, and fly catchers.
One
of the well known spots near Kanha National Park is Bamni Dadar also known
as Sunset Point, this is one of the most beautiful areas of the park, from
where a spectacular sunset can be watched. The dense luxuriance of Kanha's
forests can be seen from here. Animals that can be sighted around this
point are typical of the mixed forest zone sambar, barking deer, gaur and
four-horned antelope.
