Unspoilt, unexplored and in stark contrast to the urban jungle that Mussoorie
has become, Dhanaullti is as close to nature as can be. Rows of Deodars, vast
green meadows and a gentle cool breeze greets you about 30 km from Mussoorie
beyond Landour. It can be a day trip or better still overnite sojourn at this
beautiful country side. Treks, pony rides along fruit orchards and water streams
appearing from nowhere can keep you busy as there is no mall for shopping or
videogames. Hotels are few and quiet basic. Dhanolti also provides excellent views
of the snow capped Himalayan ranges.TIP
You can go directly to Dhanulti by taking a right turn about 8 km before
reaching Mussoorie and then doing another 30 km or so on a 'not so bad' road.
From Dhanaulti
one can take a day trip to Surkhunda Devi about 10 km away. One has to trek for about 2 km to
a height of about 3000m to reach a very revered religious place for the locals,
dedicated to Goddess Parvati, as it is believed her head fell here after she became a sati. The place also
provides a 180 degree view of the mountain ranges from the
top.
